About Us

Marcela completed her degree at UCT before taking on her first job at Groote Schuur Hospital. There she worked in a variety of areas, particularly enjoying a stint at the hand unit. This led to a job at the Cape Hand Clinic at Vincent Pallotti Hospital where she learnt a lot working with experienced hand surgeons and therapists. Her scope in the treatment of hands and wrists was broadened when she was taught how to make her own thermoplastic splints by classmate Hayley Coleman who did her hands training in Australia.

Marcela has had her own private practice on the Rondebosch Common since 2010 where she has enjoying treating hand and wrist injuries and a variety of other musculoskeletal conditions.

More recently Marcela has developed an interest in working with the elderly.

A large elderly population and a growing understanding of the unique medical requirements of the elderly makes this an exciting and rewarding field in which to work. Marcela has learnt a lot through meaningful relationships with her clients and a team of medical professionals with an interest in this area.

Marcela has had the opportunity to teach qualified physiotherapists in the area of hands and wrists. She enjoys the research required to keep up to date and finds teaching intellectually stimulating.
